    Witt3439 is Back
I just want to let everyone know that I have missed everyone. On June 18th of last year, I almost died when my heart stopped working and I wound in the hospital for 6 weeks.

On July 8th of 2011, I had an LVAD installed in my chest next to my heart and it allows for the blood to run instead of my heart having to try to do everything. (And there's better information about it, but I've told the basics.)

Former vice president ***** Cheney also had one installed also. Any way, starting next year I will be able to hopefully have a new heart.

Just over 3 weeks ago I had a stroke and I was able to still try to walk and my head still works. It still takes forever for me to think about what I'm talking about even though I think about things quickly. It has taken me over 35 minutes to try to write about what I've written here, I'm a live though and I missed all of my friends that are on here.

PLEASE thank you for listening about me, and it's good to be back on.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview Coming Feb. 29, bundled apps leaked
As promised, Microsoft will release a public beta of Windows 8 this month. The company scheduled a launch event for the "Consumer Preview" of its next operating system on February 29 in Barcelona, Spain -- the same timeframe and city as Mobile World Congress but they're separate occasions. Although the company is doling out invitations, it hasn't shared much about the event or whether a US affair is planned.

While Microsoft's announcement is lacking juicy details, The Verge has learned more about the programs that might ship with Windows 8. According to unnamed sources familiar with Microsoft's plans, the OS will offer Metro-style camera, messaging, mail, calendar, SkyDrive, photo, video, music and "people" applications -- all of which will be present in the Consumer Preview, but aren't set in stone for the full release.

It sounds like it should be interesting. Read more about it here.

Valve's Steam Suffers Worldwide Failure over the Weekend
Valve’s digital games distribution service Steam suffered a worldwide failure for several hours on Sunday, leaving users unable to play games as well as taking offline the Steam user forum and various associated websites.

Despite claims from concerned users suggesting the popular gaming platform could once again be under attack, the fault was eventually traced to a failure of their central datacenters uninterruptable power supply (UPS) system. "Our data centre's uninterruptable power supplies experienced a power failure", an engineer posted on Steam’s forum yesterday. "The power is back on now and we're working to get service restored as quickly as possible."

Facebook Photos, Gone but not Forgotten!
A deleted Facebook photo may be forgotten. But that doesn't mean it's gone.

You can remove a photo from your Facebook page, but that photo might still exist on the company's servers--and could still be accessible via a direct link.

(Does this mean no more naughty pictures will get posted and deleted later? lol)

Read the story here and see what it's all about.

Microsoft Bing Page Tips off new Windows 8 Consumer Preview
Microsoft has already cooked up a special Bing page tempting users to check out its upcoming Windows 8 "Consumer Preview."
The first clue is the video of a betta fish swimming from one edge of the screen to the other. Thought of as Microsoft's mascot for beta versions of new operating systems, that particular fish swam its way onto the desktop of the beta for Windows 7 in 2009.

Good news, gadget hounds! The new “try before you buy” subscription service called YBUY is exiting its public beta, backed by $750,000 in seed funding. The concept is simple, and should have major appeal for the gadget-obsessed: for just $24.95 per month, you can test drive the latest electronics, home and kitchen gadgets for 30 days before deciding to purchase or return the items.

At launch, the site is serving up highly sought-after gadgets like the iPad 2, Dyson heaters, Jawbone headsets, iRobot Roombas and more.

Adobe Updates Flash and Air for Android, Fixes 'Green Screen' Video Issues
Even though Adobe is killing Flash for Android, the company promised to keep offering support and updates to its users. To that end, Adobe is rolling out updates for Flash 11 and Air for Android, as well as an update to the Air SDK. The biggest change would have to be the squashing of a bug that caused serious issues with Flash video playback — previously, users would often experience a completely green screen when trying to play video on sites like YouTube, pretty much defeating the value of having Flash installed in the first place. There's still a number of known issues unresolved, including frames not updating when seeking through a paused video and incoming call audio not being prioritized over Flash audio; since Adobe's already aware of these problems, they'll hopefully be fixed soon as well.

Sony Introduces its First USB 3.0 Flash Drive, the Micro Vault MACH

If your files are too big to transfer through the plethora of online file sharing services available, Sony has you covered with its first USB 3.0 flash drives. The Micro Vault MACH drives come in 8, 16, 32, and 64GB capacities; read speeds are 60MB/s for the 8GB model and 120MB/s for the rest. Write speeds weren't officially announced although Sony notes the 64GB model reached 90MB/s in testing. Of course, those speeds are only theoretical, but certainly trump what lowly USB 2.0 currently delivers but they're also backwards compatible for computers stuck without USB 3.0 (like every Mac Apple sells, for example). These new drives come in a stylish aluminum exterior shell with a retractable USB connector and LED data transfer light. If you're interested, Sony says the Micro Vault MACH will be available this month, though there's no pricing information available at this time.

Fake iPad 2s Made of Clay Sold at B.C. Stores
Future Shop and Best Buy have launched an investigation after as many as 10 fake Apple iPad 2s were sold at their Vancouver stores.

Future Shop said scam artists bought Apple's popular tablet computers with cash, replaced the devices with bags of model clay, resealed the boxes and returned them. The returned fakes were then put back on the shelf and sold to unsuspecting customers.

E-mail After Work Hours? That's Overtime, Says Law
A new Brazilian law says that workers who are forced to answer e-mails out of their work hours qualify for overtime.

    Companies take liberties.

The liberty some seem to enjoy most is yours. As recessions hit and profit pressures become the sole reason for existence, bosses seem to believe that they own workers--until they discard them for younger, fresher models.
Now a curiously human law has reared its head in Brazil. According to the Associated Press, this law says that if a company e-mails you after your allotted working hours, then this is the same as if one's supervisor is giving one an instruction to perform a certain work task.

The whole story is here. Talk about future controversy potential...

I wouldn't have posted this except for the fact that I happened upon it while I was looking for a fast browser for my Intel i3 laptop. I do realize that it depends on the equipment, but I'm currently using Pale Moon x64 (a Firefox version for those who might not know), and it is fast for me, but I still feel a "lag" when opening pages, so that got me looking for something else.
