The flood gates have opened on Windows 8 leaks ever since Windows 8 was posted to Microsoft Connect. While many of the features have surfaced over the past few weeks, this is the first look at the Windows 8 login screen.

The image comes courtesy of withinwindows.com and shows the current state of the Windows 8 login screen. The overall look and feel has the Metro design language which is expected to be carried throughout the entire Windows 8 platform. The screen carries over from the WP7 platform a look and feel that while new, is consistent with Microsoft's current product WP7.

While more items and features may be incorporated into the login screen, for the time being, this is the current state of the login screen for Windows 8. Windows 8 is expected to enter beta, possibly as soon as this fall, with OEM availability in late 2012 and possible retail availability in January 2013.

[Update] We now have further confirmation that this is real, posted over on Geeksmack.net, "Rafael Rivera and Paul Thurrott have revealed the logon screen for this shell, which GeekSmack can independently confirm as real despite some misinformed rants about this being an April Fool’s day joke."

Zukona made a statement saying there was no truth in Windows 8 being placed on connect, neither will there be any public leak / release until around September- I have given up trusting any source now, everywhere is saying different things, so in my eyes its all make believe hopeful BS until something real actually happens

I used one of those "tweaking" apps (redpill I think) & got that log-on screen working but it sucked because I couldn't undo it & then had to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete everytime before I could get to where I typed-in the PW.
I ended up just installing 8 (build 7955) again

I like the new login screen, much improved :D. Also, if you work for a business that is on a domain, then generally speaking the control alt delete is used :)
