Wikileaks is a website that publishes anonymous submissions and leaks of sensitive governmental, corporate, organizational, or religious documents, while attempting to preserve the anonymity and untraceability of its contributors. Within one year of its December 2006 launch, its database had grown to more than 1.2 million documents,[2] leading to many front-page newspaper articles and political reforms.

Good call Dave, I saw that earlier. What is known of 'Haystack' ? An encrypted proxy it seems?

Downside is that probably (highly likely!) is that Wikileaks is heavily monitored by the 'man', and even having a looksee results in anyones IP being monitored? Even reference to it (oops just did twice!)

Powerful site..

This situation is what I refer to in another thread..your last comment..sad tw** lol, could refer to the context of the thread, or direct at me, so the thread could go either way. But..I know you are a good guy Dave, and take it in the right context..and know that you refer to the context, hence why a Highway code should be made of the internet..

As I understand it, filesharing sites are mainly monitored, and spam introduced by external factions (conspiricy theory there!), and torrents are being monitored by ISP's on behalf of corporations (as witnessed by accounts on this site); MS shut down my account/My ISP suspended my account...

What I don't understand is how to link my real IP, to the router IP, mine is 192.xxx, and the router is something like 80.XXX, or via a proxy? Haystack is good and bad at the same time..? A member here has posted my location within their signature..is Haystack a good thing? The internet is supposed to be free, surely this is imposing some form of limit? Very confusing.

Yes sorry I was refering to "THE Man" not you !!

OK your internal IP - ie. you network / router is the 192.xxx

Your external IP / the one the internet / forums see is the 82.xxx

A proxy is a way to fool the net into thinking your PC is in another location, and or a way to filter internet traffic

Lets say for example your country bans facebook as was shown on tv lastnight, if you enter an IP of a proxy server of another country into your browser, let say a US server, then facebook thinks US is asking for the page, shows it, then the US server sends it to you.

A very basic explanation, but there is so many different uses for IP changes / proxies etc

Haystack seems to do just that, but also encrypts your IP so it is improbable that you will be found out
