Hey, i am trying to build a software for my friend, i want to make delivery order software, like i want to create each address with what they need and the price and each store of what to be delivered, like for example route 1 has 20 stops, so store1 his address and they order product 1 2 3 and there total and store 2 and there products and ect. i want to see the whole total for the route everyday and the week and the month and for like 4 routs, so what language should i use and how hard is it to make also how long do you think is it gonna take. Thanks :blink2:

It depends on which programming language you are most fluent, I would use C# since it is widely supported. Also I dont think this would take that long to make, if you make a table to sort and read from database makes it easy

I can help, I know some C#, but I mainly know VB.NET, though the two languages are very similar.

Sorry I do not have much free time but I am sure diablofan would be able to help you out. VB.NET is similar to C#, however VB does have less advanced synthax

It actually sounds as if you could be just as productive here using a languaga like Perl or Python; these are excellent tools for both prototyping an application and actually creating it.

Initially you could just worry about how to massage data which could be read in from simple text files; then, as you grow more comfortable with your approach, add in some graphical features if desired.

The other approach would be to look at using PHP and making it a simple web based application; many webhosts included both PHP and MySQL for data storage. Again this would provide a handy means of deploying an application, while not limiting your users to any one particiular platform for their access or even one particular location.

get used to database principles and give a try to a web based application through a browser.. I think this is one of the less time consuming way to get something easily and properly.
